Mooinjer Veggey is proud to announce Through Quirk’s Eyes, a landmark month-long exhibition at the Erin Arts Centre featuring 18 celebrated Manx artists. Each artist has been invited to curate a unique piece inspired by the perspective and imagination of the late William Thomas Quirk — poet, teacher, and cultural figure.

Artists contributing include:
Sally Black, Darren Jackson, Steph Quayle, Helen Faragher, Clare Payne, Juan Moore, Katie Summerville, Kim Tashagh, Ongky Wijana, Stedhead, Graham Hall, Andrew Mackellar, Abi Hiskey, Bruno Cavellec, Eve Adams, Ella Magee, and more.

The exhibition will open with a Private View on 9th January 2026 to launch Mooinjer Veggey into The Year of The Manx Language, followed by a public showing until 28th February at the Erin Arts Centre.

All works will be available through a community auction, with bids submitted via ballot boxes at the venue or by email to projects@mooinjerveggey.org.im. Minimum bids will be applied to selected pieces.

This exhibition is more than a showcase of outstanding local creativity — it is a celebration of community, language, and cultural heritage. By enjoying the extraordinary talent of these artists, and through the collective support of the Manx community, Through Quirk’s Eyes will help Mooinjer Veggey continue its mission to make the Manx language a vibrant part of everyday life

Join us on Wednesday 28 January at the Bunscoill for our Annual General Meeting. We are looking for people to help expand the use and popularity of Manx Gaelic.

We currently have vacancies on the committee and would love to hear from you if you have experience in teaching languages, are engaged in creative industries or have a background in finance or charity management. We are also looking for people who enjoy fundraising either through the corporate sector or through grassroots events.

Mooinjer Veggey is run by people who have a passion for the Manx language and its greater use. We are committed to promoting and supporting children and families who wish to learn and use Manx and we are currently looking for someone to join our management committee in a voluntary capacity.

Mooinjer Veggey is a charity and company limited by guarantee, set up in 1996, to promote the knowledge and use of Manx Gaelic amongst young people. It currently runs Possan Cloiein St Johns and Arbory, our nursery in St Johns and supports the Bunscoill Ghaelgagh. It also creates learning resources including films, books and audio as well as supporting parents who wish to raise their children as Manx speakers.

Grainney Sheard and Hayley O’Meara have been using their creative skills to support Mooinjer Veggey’s fundraising efforts this Christmas.

Grainney Sheard, a community events organiser with the Keird Collective, has organised a Christmas Market at Noa Bakehouse. The fair, taking place at the Market Hall on Douglas Quay, Sunday 1^st December from 9am-2pm, will feature artisans from the Collective as well as members of the wider creative community.

The funds raised from the artisan table fee will go directly to the charity’s initiatives, which include community outreach, educational materials and cultural events aimed at ensuring the survival and thriving of the Manx language.

Mooinjer Veggey provides services that support the learning of Manx from early childhoodand beyond, helping individuals of all ages reconnect with their cultural heritage.

Grainney said: “The promotion of the Manx language is something very close to my heart. Through these fundraising efforts, we hope to raise both awareness and financial support for the vital work that Mooinjer Veggey does.”

Hayley O’Meara, a teacher at Bunscoill Ghaelgagh and mum to three Manx speaking children, will be a participating artist at the market. Hayley works under the name ‘Rehollys’ which is Manx Gaelic for moonlight. Hayley has created a series of Christmassy Manx Language jumpers and accessories to sell at the fair and the proceeds will go to the charity.

Hayley said: “This quirky, modern collection will allow the community to enjoy our unique culture and stand out from the crowd.”

Both fundraisers are encouraging the local community to visit the market on the 1^stDecember, and support Hayley’s efforts with ‘Rehollys’, all of which will help Mooinjer Veggey continue its mission of keeping the Manx language alive and thriving for future generations.

The Keird Christmas Market will take place on Sunday 1^st December from 9am-2pm.
