The only school in the world where the curriculum is taught entirely through the Manx language
The world’s only Manx medium primary school
Bunscoill Ghaelgagh is the world’s only primary school where the whole curriculum is taught through the Manx language. Based in St John’s, it offers children a rich, creative and nurturing learning environment rooted in the language, heritage and culture of the Isle of Man.
Our partnership with Bunscoill Ghaelgagh
Bunscoill Ghaelgagh is run by the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Education, Sport and Culture (DESC), in conjunction with Mooinjer Veggey. We support the school and chair the Board of Governors, provide resources, and work closely with staff on projects that promote Manx language and culture.
Learning through Manx
All teaching is done through Manx, and children become fluent speakers by the time they leave for secondary school. The school strives for excellence across the curriculum, with particular strengths in ICT, the performing arts, and creative, child-centred learning.
