Cooish Vooar 2026 – five days celebrating the Manx language

Cooish Vooar, the Island’s annual Manx language festival, is going vooar (big) for Blein ny Gaelgey, the Year of the Manx Language!

From Friday 25 to Tuesday 29 September, the festival offers five days of music, workshops, walking tours, talks and opportunities to enjoy and speak Gaelg. With 32 events taking place around the Island, there is something for everyone, from complete beginners to fluent speakers… and many activities are free.

Café Mooinjer Veggey

Mooinjer Veggey will be joining the celebrations with Café Mooinjer Veggey on Saturday:

11am–4pm, Saturday 26 September
Methodist Church, Peel

Come along for Manx conversation, games, talks, crafts and delicious food and drink. The café is suitable for all, whether you speak Manx already or are simply curious to discover more.

Other festival highlights include free Blass Beg introductory Manx workshops around the Island, bilingual walking tours, Yn Chruinnaght’s Yn Mheillea Variety Concert, and a spectacular finale at the Gaiety Theatre featuring Julie Fowlis and Allt, with Ruth Keggin and Rachel Hair.
